The Samsung Galaxy Fold debacle was a mess for the business, and early on it was evident that this hardware was just not prepared for the market. Samsung CEO DJ Koh confessed today that the Galaxy Fold was initiated “before it was ready,” and said the whole event was “embarrassing.”
Speaking to the press (via Independent), Samsung CEO DJ Koh disclosed some information behind the scenes about the Galaxy Fold scenario, including how he feels about it all. In brief, he considered it an embarrassment and confessed that on the foldable phone he “pushed it through before it was ready” and “missed something.”
While Koh seems to put a lot of blame on his own shoulders, another Samsung executive suggested that the “do what you can’t” brand philosophy that Samsung is going through is part of the issue.
Still, Koh claims the device is being “recovered” by Samsung. Apparently, more than 2,000 devices are currently being tested “in all aspects” to identify issues with “mass volume testing.” He says reviewers pointed out issues that Samsung “didn’t even think about.” Unfortunately, Koh still wouldn’t offer any timetable for the launch of the Galaxy Fold.
