Google Play back in 2016 added 4K UHD films, and last year it upgraded to 4K for free past SD and HD purchases. Historically, Disney hasn’t provided 4K content for internet buy, but it’s beginning today to change.
Disney — along with Pixar, Lucasfilm, and Marvel Studios — now sells 4K content via the Google Play Store. This involves latest titles of super heroes such as Avengers: Infinity War, Captain Marvel, and Black Panther. Animated works include Coco and The Lion King (1992), completing the initial list with Solo: A Star Wars Story and A Wrinkle in Time.
Avengers ‘ upcoming digital release, along with the three other Avengers films, will be accessible in 4K UHD quality on July 30th. Taking Infinity War as an instance, HD films generally cost $19.99, while it generally costs $24.99 to step up to 4K.
This is the first slate of 4K Disney titles on the Play Store, with more from the catalog rolling out in the coming months, according to Google.
Google Play 4K content can be streamed through Chromecast Ultra, Android TV, and most Samsung and LG Smart TVs.
