For quite a while, Casio has been on the Wear OS train and is announcing another fresh choice today. The WSD-F21HR Casio ProTrek carries a reduced price tag, similarly robust design, and lastly a heart rate monitor.
Long names aside, the latest Wear OS smartwatch from Casio is a large deal for the company due to the heart rate monitor being added. The previous three generations of Casio’s ProTrek smartwatch lineup were among the finest indoor smartwatches on the market, but this easy and helpful feature was lacking for everyone.
There’s a typical LED-based heart rate sensor available with the WSD-F21HR that can tie in apps like Google Fit. In order to take benefit of the heart rate details, Casio also updated its activity app. Of course, the sensor will also be able to take benefit of other health apps available on Wear OS.
It is interesting to note that the WSD-F21HR is not a successor to the 2018 debuted WSD-F30 but rather a variant on the 2017 WSD-F20. Like that watch, you’re going to get a 1.32-inch dual-display that’s not completely round, rather using the “flat tire” design that was common a few years ago. The WSD-F21HR also features offline GPS, a rough body, 5 ATM water and more. The battery life is predicted to be around a day and a half, and you’ll get Wear OS, of course.
