OnePlus today verified some details about its coming TV with latest leaks and rumors floating around. OnePlus TV will debut in September, and it will also be launched in a few significant markets.
In today’s forum article, Pete Lau confirms that during September the OnePlus TV will be formally unveiled. There is no firm start date mentioned in the post outside of “next month,” but previous rumors pinned the date as September 26, probably alongside a teaser or OnePlus 7 T smartphone reveal.
Apparently, the OnePlus TV will debut first in India, where Lau says he can’t wait to see it all over the nation in living rooms. OnePlus is also working to take their TV to North America, China, and Europe sometime after the Indian launch as content partnerships in these areas are being created. Notably, this fundamentally proves that OnePlus is constructing its own TV platform, as rumors that running Google’s Android TV would already have much of that local content.
OnePlus also hopes that this new TV will be at the core of a “smart social hub” and that the product will assist it to participate in the Internet of Things.
