All focus for Google has moved to YouTube Music when it comes to music streaming, and Waze will be integrated with the service starting today.
Waze has slowly developed a portfolio of music and podcast apps to integrate with the navigation service using a 2018 launched audio kit. The list includes big names like Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, Deezer, TuneIn, and more at the moment. A podcast player called Castbox was the recent addition in June, but beginning today, the newest integration is YouTube Music.
This latest integration, like other apps that use Waze’s audio player, will be able to display controls and pick playlists directly within the Waze application without leaving the navigation screen. We found information about the integration of Waze for YouTube Music in a recent teardown, but we’re not entirely sure that’s the same thing as the Audio Kit from Waze.
This new connection begins to roll out in Brazil, but Waze says that in the coming weeks, all YouTube Music subscribers around the globe will be able to connect the apps.
