Google introduced an auto-delete function earlier this year in its attempt to expand privacy options through its different platforms. YouTube history can now be deleted with this function of auto-delete.
Google announced earlier today as part of a privacy-focused post that this auto-delete option would expand to YouTube. Just like with Location History and browsing auto-delete, the function can automatically delete your YouTube history after three months or 18 months, but defaults to indefinitely store it.
This is certainly a large win for YouTube for privacy-minded people. Incognito mode completely disables history, but auto-deleting history is a useful compromise to guarantee that personalized outcomes can still be obtained.
The feature is currently available. Just go to your account settings, find “Choose automatically to delete,” and choose how often you want Google to purge your data.
