Until Stadia released, Google said the weekly new features of Stadia were “aiming to release.” Google revealed on r / Stadia this morning that it is “experimenting with a new method of information delivery this week.”
Google will post a sticky thread with time-stamped updates from Monday to Wednesday this week to“drop any new information we have to share with the Stadia community.” There will be no posts this Thursday and Friday due to the Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S., but the format would otherwise be daily.
The first November 25th update deals with the distribution of Premiere Edition hardware along with keys. There are still no reports of the latter. Google has provided a reminder that all founders should have their codes as of Friday, and if this is not the case, contact support.
Daily Stadia updates are described as an experiment that is needed given Stadia’s newness as a platform and the traditional high level of engagement in the gaming community. In the meantime, Google has promised a number of post-launch features, including a performance interface already recorded by Stadia. Also, Google Assistant is not yet available for any form factor on the Stadia Controller.
More generally, Google’s new product communication is usually split between tweets, blog posts, and articles that support it. Centralizing the Stadia team on Reddit is a good call, allowing the platform to be better for long-form discussion.
