Smart displays and smart speakers from Google are some of today’s best on the market. For many, however, choosing between the Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max could be difficult. Here’s that smart display of Google’s Nest Hub on Black Friday is right with you.

What is Google Nest Hub capable of doing?

All smart displays from Google have a wide variety of features. First, they serve as Google Assistant speakers that are always available and can be activated by a simple “Hey Google” command. This allows you to search for a question answer, play your favorite music, set timers, and more. To control them, Google Assistant can also connect with thousands of smart home products.

Because the Google Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max are smart displays, they can do more than just a typical smart speaker. These products can play live TV through services such as YouTube TV or Sling TV. They can also show recipes in the kitchen while you’re working, pull digital movies from your library, show lyrics to playing songs, and more! You can even cast services such as Hulu and Disney+ on these screens as Google products.

Another useful function for your smart home is to act as a hub for these smart displays. Without vocal commands, the touchscreen can be used to easily control all devices in your home. You can even see live feeds from your home’s security cameras.

All this is also just scratching the surface as there is much more that these devices can offer!

Which one would be perfect for me?

As far as Google’s smart displays are concerned, there are currently only two on the market–the Nest Hub and the Nest Hub Max.

How different are these smart displays? The Google Nest Hub is a compact, cute little7-inch smart display that suits almost anywhere in your home. You can do all of the above and do it for just $129.

On the other hand, the Google Nest Hub Max is a larger 10-inch smart display offering a few upgrades at a price of $229. Its display and speakers are not only much better, but there is a camera up front that can be used on Google Duo for video calls. The camera also acts as a security camera for Nest and can be used to pause music / videos for some useful hands-free gestures.

Both displays often provide a feature of “awareness.” The Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max can sense interface elements such as timers when you are close, using ultrasonic tech, as well as lighting the display to show you the weather or media controls.

The standard Nest Hub is going to do well for most people. However, if you want better sound, the ability to make video calls and get the extra bit of functionality that Max offers, the Nest Hub Max may be a worthwhile upgrade.
