eSIM is still a fairly new technology, but it is slowly being embraced by carriers. Since the second generation, Google has supported the feature on every Pixel and now T-Mobile’s Pixel 4 owners will take advantage of eSIM.
A T-Mobile support page spotted by Android Police reveals that official support for eSIM connectivity is provided by the December update for the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL. Some users have traditionally been able to enable this, but now the process should be much easier.
That’s great to hear as it helps two welcome features to be supported.
For one, those who bought a unlocked Pixel 4 will activate their phone on T-Mobile without the store or mail needing a physical SIM card. In fact, it allows for dual-SIM connectivity. Having T-Mobile with the eSIM allows users to connect to another network using the physical SIM.
If you have a Pixel 4 on T-Mobile, you obviously don’t have to use eSIM, but when you switch to the network, it’s a great option.
