Google ‘s Wear OS is still in a tough spot, but, thanks to spec bumps on almost every smartwatch released, things got a lot better in the back half of 2019. Fossil is debuting the Skagen Falster 3 today at CES 2020, an upgraded version of one of our favorite Wear OS watches with more RAM and a better chip.
Like the rest of the Fossil Gen 5 collection there are a few main upgrades to Skagen Falster 3. Most importantly this includes the 3100 chipset and 1 GB RAM Snapdragon Wear. This gives a huge boost to performance, as past models have shown, which makes Wear OS much more usable.
In addition, the Falster 3 adds a speaker for answers from Google Assistant and adds the handy battery saver modes from Fossil. It does all that too while maintaining a similar 42 mm (up to 41 mm) slim case size which is water-resistant to 3ATM. The watch also features, as you would expect, NFC for Google Pay, heart rate tracking GPS, and fast charging using the same last-generation ring charger.
There is also a new partnership at stake with Skagen Falster 3. Skagen has partnered with X with KYGO, a DJ / songwriter lifestyle brand. The Falster 3 includes an exclusive KYGO X watchface and this spring will come a special variant of the watch.
The Falster 3 can be purchased directly from Skagen in select markets starting today. The watch pricing remains at $295 and will be available in the near future from other retailers.
