LG has been less than impressive in the smartphone market for the past few years and it seems things are getting worse. Nevertheless, at CES 2020, one LG chief vowed that next year’s mobile division of the company would turn a profit.
Looking back over the past few years, especially in the flagship market, LG has slipped considerably. Personally, I attribute a lot of this to where the company focused and didn’t pay enough attention to areas such as the camera. In 2020, the flagships of LG are clearly not standing out as doing anything better than any Android phone flagship.
There, it is implied that in future mobile smartphones LG will somehow use a “wow factor” to help the division turn a profit. The “wow factor” is presumably something in line with what the LG G8X ThinQ debuted with its dual-screen.
Will this new plan boost the work of LG smartphone sales? LG has a long road ahead of it at this stage that I don’t think next year will see such a big turnaround. Backing up that statement is the first LG G9 leak that reveals a phone without any clear “wow factor.” But I think we’re just going to have to wait and see.
