When it comes to launching new devices, Huawei is still in a tricky spot, but that has not stopped the company from supporting what’s already on the market. Huawei announces its official EMUI 10 update schedule this morning and it will start rolling out this month.
EMUI 10 was available in beta as well as on some newly released devices such as the Mate 30 series and the “new” P30 as well, but for most consumers it was not rolled out. Today, the official schedule of updates is clear when many users may expect this major update.
Huawei says the P30, P30 Plus, Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 X (4 G), and nova 5 T will all be updated to EMUI 10 with Android 10 in tow starting this month. These devices will receive push notifications to indicate the availability of the update.
Huawei will extend the EMUI 10 update schedule to many more devices in “later months.” These devices include the following:
What does EMUI 10 carry with it? This brings some improvements to the interface support for a system-wide dark theme, new transitions and more new features when we went hands-on with it back in August. Huawei places emphasis on multi-screen collaboration and improved performance and security features in today’s press release. Read the full press release below.
With all of that, the elephant in the room is Google apps. Huawei can still update previously sold devices and retain Google’s support for the app, as we’ve seen in the past. So, if you own one of these devices, updating your Google apps like the Play Store to EMUI 10 won’t be removed.
