Google Pixel Buds were one of the strongest aspects of the software features that they put in. Like their Pixel phones, Google aims to improve that software over time by offering “Feature Drops” to Pixel Buds.
Speaking to Forbes, Google announced that it plans to introduce feature drops for its new wireless headphones from Pixel Buds, going forward. Those drops will be different from Pixel phones that tend to be around every 3 months. A representative from Google said: “The goal will be to continue adding new useful features over time, just as we do with Pixel phones.”
Which will Google offer for Pixel Buds with Feature Drops? How does it happen? For any of those, the company has had no clear answers. Likely, the main aim at the moment is to get other shipping colors and carry the product to more countries as well as, for the time being, only offering Pixel Buds in the US and “Clearly White.”
Once drops for Buds finally begin to arrive, I would expect that EQ settings will be one of the first arrivals simply because early feedback and even our own noted that this was a feature missing. After all, several other wireless earbuds, including Samsung’s Galaxy Buds+, provide this feature. What more? For gestures maybe some customization. We also found evidence Google might be introducing some clever AI features.
