Especially since Google ‘s announcement of its RCS ambitions, the Google Messages app is growing at a rapid pace with new features. Now, Google Messages is getting a redesigned search bar that is almost identical to the one we see in many other Google apps, with its latest beta update.
Different apps from Google don’t always share design aspects as you might expect them to, but the search bar is one of the design elements shown in several. This search bar is now arriving in Google Messages, appearing in Gmail, Photos, Maps and others.
As normal, the search bar takes up the entire title bar, along with the briefly present “Google Messages” logo before changing to text. In this case , it shows “Search images & videos.” That seems … short-sighted for searching in a messaging app, but maybe it’s not the final choice Google makes here.
Android Police reports the move is a server-side check of the latest beta update to Google Messages, v6.2. You may not see it on your device as a result, just yet. Where Google will carry this out broadly, it’s not quite clear yet.
