OnePlus has seen great success with its smartphones, and last year with the launch of the OnePlus TV Q-Series it extended to the TV market. OnePlus today expanded that lineup with the launch of its new U-Series and Y-Series TV, both running on Android TV for Google.
The U-Series and Y-Series are more subdued while the original OnePlus TV has been almost as high-end as it comes with special features such as a retractable soundbar. Both new series concentrate on offering a high-quality experience without the actual cost of these features.
The OnePlus TV U-Series consists of one model only — OnePlus 55U1 TV. This 55-inch TV also has a 4K panel attached to a carbon fiber effect metal frame. It’s a very sleek design and the bezels up front are very slim, as all the models revealed today are. There is a speaker with 30W, too.
The OnePlus TV Y-Series, meanwhile, is focused on even lower price points and, more importantly, various sizes. The 43Y1 and 32Y1 give 1080p and 720p displays respectively while retaining the same overall picture quality and performance. Also, you’ll find dual-10W audio speakers
We ‘re dealing with LED panels on every three models here. These all cover a color gamut with HDR10 and Dolby Vision support for 93% DCI-P3. Resolution is the only thing that changes between the sizes.
OnePlus is also debuting a few new features, in addition to these new TV models. There is a new Kids Mode that offers parental controls on content types and also a watch timer when enabled. There’s also “Data Saver Plus,” a special mode that allows users to get alerts if a certain amount of data is used on their TV. This could come in handy on limited internet plans!
That’s all built on top of Android TV, with built-in support for Prime Video and Netflix. 55U1 runs on an MT5887 MediaTek, 3 GB RAM, and you’ll have 16 GB of storage. At the other hand, The OnePlus TV Y-Series is down to 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage.
What are tariffs? 55U1 will cost Rs 49,999 (~$670), beginning at Rs 12,999 (~$175) and Rs 22,999 (~$300) for the 43-inch edition. Everything would be available on Amazon July 5th. Still these televisions are exclusive to India. Pre-orders are now open.
