For weeks now, the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick has leaked but the company has not yet made it an official announcement. But, as a retail listing on Xiaomi’s own website has confirmed the price point of the Mi TV Stick, it seems that might be coming up quickly.
Several retail listings about the Mi TV Stick have already hit the web, but only one of them has had a price point that we can put any faith in. They’ve always been higher than the Mi Box S, after all, this product succeeds!
The Mi TV Stick has now leaked on one of Xiaomi’s own websites, and specifically on the online store of the company in Portugal. The company lists the product there as “coming soon,” offering a few product images and also confirming some details. Android TV Pie, Netflix and support for Prime Video, and also Dolby + DTS are mentioned. This is also the 1080p model, which is reported to have 1 GB of RAM/8 GB storage in this listing, use microUSB for power, and use a quad-core CPU.
And what price does Xiaomi charge for the 1080p version of the Mi TV Stick? €39.99.
Directly converted to US dollars, that would be about $45, but not as simple as that. A quick look into the Google Store in Portugal reveals that Chromecast, the company’s new generation — although limited to 1080p — sells for €39. I would wager that Xiaomi is targeting the price point of the Chromecast for the FHD model of the Mi TV Stick, meaning it could arrive in the US for $35. This, however, is just speculation at this point.
