The OnePlus Nord is the newest budget smartphone to make a splash on the market, but the phone that we praised in our recent review isn’t coming to the US. Fortunately, however, OnePlus has plans to carry future devices to the United States from Nord.
OnePlus’ Carl Pei has confirmed one of the company’s future plans in WIRED’s Nord review. Apparently, a ‘Nord-branded phone’ will arrive later this year in the United States.
Pei ‘s language means that this other OnePlus Nord device may not be the same one that will be launching in the coming days in Europe , India and other regions. And what is it that we offer in the States? OnePlus has not officially teased anything but there is clear evidence on the horizon of another Nord device.
Technically the OnePlus Nord is available in the U.S., but the “limited beta” of the company would only offer 50 devices to hopeful customers, probably just a fraction of those interested.
Using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 690 chipset, XDA uncovered references in the latest versions of OxygenOS that suggest another OnePlus Nord model. Which means a price point even lower than the Nord standard, and that’s assuming there are no other downgrades in that device. There ‘s absolutely zero guarantee, however, that this is Pei ‘s device hinting at for US shores.
