The best aspect of Google ‘s Pixel smartphones is tech, and a great deal of that comes down to simplicity. For example, the Pixel Launcher is barebones, but a pleasure to use. However, with the Pixel 5 ‘s debut, Google is bringing an update to the Pixel Launcher that allows users to adjust the size of the grid.
If you’ve ever used a third party launcher like Nova on Android, you’re probably familiar with the size of the grid. This feature allows the number of icons on the screen to be changed by users. Over the years, quite a few Android OEMs have included the same ability on their stock launchers, all coming to mind with OnePlus, Samsung, and LG.
On the Pixel Launcher, Google has never officially offered a grid size alternative, but work on that project has in the past been spotted. However, with the most recent version of the Pixel Launcher that arrives on the Pixel 5, the grid size is live.
Pixel owners can choose between 2×2, 3×3, 4×4, and 5×5 with this new option, the last one being the default setting. It’s a bit of a shame that no expansion is available, but at the same time, in its default grid, Google sort of nails the scaling and spacing. For users who have visual impairments, those smaller sizes could come in handy.
The APK was captured and put up for sharing by XDA and should be easily installed on any Pixel smartphone. In addition to the other Pixel theme options, the option to change the grid size is shown.
