Poco M3 device comes with a 120Hz display, a huge 5,160mAh battery, 33W fast-charging, and a Snapdragon 732G chipset (6,000mAh if you’re in India). The business today unveiled the POCO M3 that comes with the pledge to be the budget segment’s king. With all the features available, it is very impressive, and POCO also provides a Black Friday deal that makes the phone even more attractive. Let’s dive into the POCO M3 specifications without further ado.
Thanks to the waterdrop notch that operates as a house for the selfie snapper, the POCO M3 packs a 6.53-inch LCD with FHD+ resolution (2,400 x 1080) and a 19:5:9 aspect ratio. Unfortunately, there is only a refresh rate of 60Hz on the display, but this is still a standard for budget smartphones. The display is covered with Gorilla Glass 3 and has Blue Light certification from TUV Rheinland.
The POCO M3 is powered by a Snapdragon 662 SoC. The 11nm chipset was the perfect choice for the budget device, according to the company, as it is cheaper and also exceeds the Snapdragon 665, which is available in other devices such as the Redmi Note 8 of last year. The Octa-Core chipset provides the Adreno 610 GPU that at average settings, can run modest games and heavy ones. This is just an LTE smartphone, if you’re wondering, but it carries the regular Dua-SIM support. The chipset is combined with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM, improving the multitasking capabilities of the phone. There are two distinct variants, one of which has UFS 2.1 storage of 64GB and the other has UFS 2.2 storage of 128GB. You can extend this amount, of course, via a microSD card.
A Triple-Camera array led by a main camera of 48MP comes with the POCO M3. The black camera housing reaches the edges of the smartphone, which results in a design that resembles the first Pixel smartphone quite a bit. A 1/2′′ size, f/1.79 aperture, 6P lens, Auto-Focus, 0.8um pixel size, 1.6um 4-in-1 Super Pixel is available for the main sensor. A 2MP Macro Camera with a 1.75um pixel scale, f/2.4 aperture, is the secondary shooter. A 2MP Depth module with a 1.75um pixel size and f/2.4 aperture is the third and final sensor. The POCO M3 does not carry an Ultra-Wide module, sadly, but tries to compensate with a solid primary camera.
Power Black, Cool Blue, and POCO Yellow, the POCO M3 has a matte finish and three distinct colorways. The brand claimed during today’s keynote that what better represents POCO as a brand is the latter color. This color is what lets the device stand among the myriad other smartphones in the segment with its original design. Users would love to see it in real life, he says. I have to admit that I would easily get the yellow color if I were on the market for a POCO M3 as it seems to be very unique.
A side-mounted fingerprint scanner comes with the handset. For Xiaomi smartphones in 2020, this seems to be a recurrent trend. This is the best placement, according to POCO, as the user can unlock the device even when it is placed above a table. The sensor on the right side of the smartphone sits below the volume rocker. The USB port and loudspeaker are housed in the bottom section. Worth noting that like the POCO X3 NFC, this phone has Stereo Speakers. To create a Stereo Effect, it makes use of the earpiece speaker and loudspeaker. POCO is proud that this is only one of the few smartphones in its price segment to offer this feature.
The phone has a USB-C port that supports fast charging of up to 22.5W. If you’re curious about the battery size, yes, a massive 6,000mAh battery comes with the POCO M3. We have to say that after all, most of the budget smartphones offer 18W fast charging in this aspect, the M3 shines. With the 22.5W rate, the M3 will charge slightly faster. The brand has been kind enough to include a charging brick in the box with the supported rate, so it won’t have to worry users.
GPS / A-GPS, BEIDOU, GLONASS, Dual-SIM + microSD card triple tray, Global LTE Networks, Dual-Band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz / 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.0, and FM Radio are other features. The device has an overall size of 162.3 x 77.3 x 9.6 mm and weighs only 198 grams. Once you have the 6,000mAh battery in mind, this is not a heavy device.
The POCO M3 runs straight out of the box with Android 10 and has MIUI 12 running on top. The handset will of course, receive Android 11 when it becomes available.
For just $149, POCO sells the 4GB / 64GB variant, while the 128GB variant will set you back by $169. For everything the phone provides, that’s a nice price. The company will however be offering the handset during Black Friday for a crazily cheap price of $129 for the starting variant and $149 for the higher tier. The handset is available through several global partners and more details can be found on the global website of the Poco.
