The Harmony OS 2.0 was first unveiled by Huawei at the Huawei Developer Conference 2020. Now for the platform, the firm has released a developer beta.

This year, Midea, Joyoung, Boss Electronics, and Puffin Technology have all launched products that run on Hongmeng OS, according to Wang Chenglu, president of the consumer BG software department of Huawei. The aim of the tech giant in 2021 is to cover more than 100 million devices from 40+ mainstream brands.

We didn’t get a good look at the developer beta on a smartphone from the Chinese brand, but a video recently posted to Weibo (spotted by Huawei Central) allegedly gives us a good idea of what to expect. The clip allegedly shows the beta of the Harmony OS 2.0 developer looking a lot like EMUI 11, featuring the same icons and a multitasking screen based on a card. Check out the below video.

Harmony OS, with a better experience and more adaptations, was initially conceived for the Internet with All. For example, on TVs, even refrigerators, and other screen-equipped devices, JD’s app can run with Harmony OS. Thus, hundreds of millions of devices will run the JD app or any other app, including cars fitted with a smart screen. This opens up other possibilities, such as having access to payment portals such as UnionPay using various devices such as PCs, TVs, etc.

At present, public test recruiting activities for the beta version have been carried out and developers and partners can apply for free participation. However, only the Mate 40 series and Huawei P40 series, as well as the MatePad Pro tablet, are available.
