On March 23, the OnePlus 9 series will be launch, along with a Hasselblad camera. The company just announced the launch date, which has been rumored for some time. OnePlus has confirmed that the unveiling of its 9 series flagships will begin at 10 a.m. EDT / 2 p.m. GMT / 7:30 p.m. IST. The phones will be the first from OnePlus to be co-developed with Hasselblad, the iconic Swedish photography brand.
The new partnership will last three years, with OnePlus investing $150 million in research and development to help push its camera game to the next level. The Hasselblad Camera for Mobile for the OnePlus 9 series was formed as a result of the joint venture. Natural Color Calibration with Hasselblad is part of the method, and it aims to maintain color accuracy and the natural look of colors in shots taken with the OnePlus 9 series.
OnePlus has always prioritized a premium user experience over everything else. Beginning in 2021, we are making a concerted effort to significantly improve the smartphone camera experience for our users, with the expertise of a truly legendary partner in Hasselblad.” - Pete Lau (OnePlus Founder/CEO)
The Hasselblad Pro Mode aims to bring the Swedish camera company’s sensor calibration expertise to smartphones, resulting in more accurate colors and images. For professional level controls, the Pro Mode interface will be based on Hasselblad’s image processing software.
ISO, white balance, exposure, and focus changes are just a few of the tweaks listed. For more true-to-life colors and dynamic range, the OnePlus 9 series will support 12-bit RAW format.
In fact, OnePlus stated that it would fund and build four R&D imaging labs in the United States and Japan. A custom Sony IMX 789 sensor with dual native ISO, full-pixel omnidirectional focusing, real-time HDR video shooting, and [email protected] video capture will also be eligible on the OnePlus 9 series. On the front facing camera, the OnePlus 9 series will include a freeform lens, a panoramic camera with a 140-degree field of view, and T-lens technology for fast focus performance.
