Following potential launch delays due to growing concerns about coronavirus spread, supposed specs of the OnePlus 8 series have now leaked, hinting for the upcoming devices at expectedly impressive internal ones.
We may expect the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset powering The OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, according to reliable tipster Ishan Argawal and 91Mobiles. Whereas a MediaTek Dimensity 1000 chipset is set to power the OnePlus 8 Lite. This will certainly be a head-turner but for its price the modest CPU performs admirably — probably the reason for its inclusion.
Although the OnePlus 8 and 8 Lite will have a 90Hz display, all OnePlus 8 series devices are set to come with a punch-hole display. Just the OnePlus 8 Pro will come with a refresh rate panel of 120Hz, as planned. The OnePlus 8 will come with a 6.5-inch curved AMOLED display according to these supposed specifications, while the OnePlus 8 Pro would feature a slightly larger, 6.65-inch curved panel. The 8 Lite will have a 6.4-inch flat AMOLED display that is slightly smaller — but still that.
Each model will include a biometric security in-display optical fingerprint sensor, although it is unclear whether any improvements are being made to the face unlock of the native OxygenOS due to the new selfie punch-hole camera.
In terms of optics, this time around there’s a certain disparity between each unit. Beginning with the OnePlus 8 Lite, a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 16-megapixel secondary lens and a third 12-megapixel lens are said to be included on the more affordable handset.
The OnePlus 8 will have a triple-lens setup that includes the same 48-megapixel main sensor, 16-megapixel secondary lens, but a 2-megapixel depth sensor will be included. Now the specs of the OnePlus 8 Pro camera are even more beefy, with a quad camera setup being suggested. We do not have any solid information about just what could be thrown in there, though.
The supposed spec sheet also “confirms” that we will be seeing wireless charging for the first time on a OnePlus unit. It will however only come to the OnePlus 8 Pro, which could also include 30W wireless reverse charging. Wireless charging is not included in the regular OnePlus 8 or 8 Lite, but on both models you can receive Warp Charge 30 T and 4,000mAh batteries. The 8 Pro will include a 4,500mAh cell which is slightly larger.
Expect to see the 6 GB RAM/128 GB, 8 GB RAM/128 GB, and 12 GB RAM/256 GB variants of the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro. The OnePlus 8 Lite is available in options of 8 GB RAM/128 GB, and 8 GB RAM/256 GB. It’s also worth noting that due to MediaTek chipset limitations, the 8 Lite is unlikely to support UFS 3.0 capacity. Price the 8 and 8 Pro is still uncertain, but the UK retail price suggested for the OnePlus 8 Lite might be as low as £ 400 (~$515)— according to Ishan Argawal.
Many rumors suggest that the OnePlus 8 series could be seen as early as mid-April, so not much longer to see what the company can bring to the table in 2020.
