Smartphones ‘ past year has seen the rise of high refresh rate displays and we expect the trend to get even better in 2020. OnePlus today confirmed it will adopt this year’s 120 Hz AMOLED displays that will have more benefits than just the faster refresh rate.
OnePlus’ Pete Lau explains in a forum post that the company’s next smartphone display will be the “best you’ll lay your eyes on in 2020.”
OnePlus has reported following a previous announcement that it will adopt 120 Hz displays in 2020, most likely beginning with the OnePlus 8. Once, Samsung Display manufactures the display and 120 Hz alone provides some great advantages. Some of those benefits include a smoother overall experience, but also better click / tap response, scroll response and accuracy since the jump to 120 Hz also brings the device to a sampling rate of 240 Hz.
However, on top of that, OnePlus also makes this display significantly brighter, with a peak brightness of 1000 nits. This more closely matches some of Samsung’s flagships, and also builds on the OnePlus 7T improvements.
Lastly, OnePlus also notes that color accuracy on this device should be even better. The company is obviously adding 30 seconds to the production time to calibrate the accuracy of the color on every single device produced. For more of a deep dive on OnePlus ‘ plans the full post reads as follows.
